Urgent Care Clinic is on the move
EUREKA -- St. Joseph Hospital invites the community to an open house on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at its brand new Urgent Care Clinic, located on the Dolbeer Street side of St. Joseph Hospital's main campus. The event will feature tours of the new facility, a ribbon cutting with Eureka Mayor Virginia Bass and refreshments. The Urgent Care Clinic will continue operating on the General Hospital campus until April 21, when it will begin treating patients at its new location at the main hospital. The new clinic features 10 treatment rooms, new equipment, expanded services and increased physician staffing. The new clinic is also closer to Emergency Room and Lab and Radiology services. Plans to relocate the Urgent Care Clinic have been in the works for nearly five years. About a year and a half ago, staff identified an area that formerly served as housing for Sisters of St.
Former Alton man shot to death in Washington Park
WASHINGTON PARK - The fatal shooting of an Alton native outside a Washington Park liquor store is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said Wednesday.The victim of Monday night's shooting was identified as David C. Wilkins, 39, of Belleville.Officials with the St. Clair County Coroner's Office said Wilkins was pronounced dead at 9:02 p.m. Monday at Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital in East St. Louis. They said Wilkins' death resulted from a single bullet wound to the upper right shoulder area.Master Sgt. Jim Morrisey of the Illinois State Police said Wilkins was shot on the parking lot of the Quick Stop Liquor Store in Washington Park about 8 p.m. Monday.Wilkins' sister, Christy Wilkins of Wood River, said her brother had been trying to protect his girlfriend when he was fatally shot.
